2-[2-(3-Butoxyphenyl)-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)ethylamino]-3-acetoxy-N,N-dimethylpropan-amide (0.19 g, 0.42 mmol) was dissolved in 3% NH4OH/MeOH (15 ml) and stirred at room temperature for 5 h. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure and the residue was purified by flash chromatography (silica, petroleum ether:EtOAc from 7:3 to 3:7) affording the title compound (0.13 g, 66% yield) as a colourless oil.
