To a solution of 2-[2-(3-butoxyphenyl)-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)ethylamino]-N,N-dimethylacetamide (0.38 g, 1.0 mmol) in dry toluene (20 ml), Lawesson's reagent (0.58 g, 1.2 mmol) was added one-pot and the mixture was heated to reflux and stirred for 2 h. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure and the residue was purified by flash chromatography (petroleum ether:AcOEt from 9:1 to 8:2) to give pure title compound as a colourless oil (0.11 g, 28% yield).
