(3,5-Difluorobenzyl)magnesium bromide (0.25 M in ether, 10 ml, 2.5 mmol) was added dropwise to a solution of (S)—N-(5-bromo-6-(((tert-butylsulfinyl)imino)methyl)pyridin-2-yl)acetamide (1D, 0.47 g, 1.36 mmol) in DCM (5 ml) at 78° C. The reaction was stirred for 3 h at −78° C. Ammonium chloride (aq, 10 mL) was added to the reaction and the mixture was allowed to warm to r.t. The mixture was extracted with EtOAc (2×30 mL). The organic layer was dried over Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated. The crude product contained a mixture of diastereomers which were used in the next step without further purification. MS (m/z) 474.1 [M+H]+.
