To piperidin-4-yl(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)methanone (1-1) (147 mg, 0.50 mmol) and 2-phenyl-1H-imidazole-5-carbaldehyde (1-2) (86 mg, 0.50 mmol) in 10 mL of CH2Cl2 was added MP-BH(OAc)3 (200 mg, 0.4 mmol), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 16 h. The reaction was filtered to remove the resin, and the filtrate was concentrated under a stream of N2 gas. The crude product was purified by reversed phase HPLC to give 111 mg (54%) of 1-3. HRMS (ES) 414.1786 (M+H) found, 414.1788 required.
