(S)-4-bromo-N-(1,1,1-trifluoropropan-2-yl)thiazole-2-carbohydrazonamide (55 g,) in triethoxymethane (500 ml) was stirred at 90° C. for 3 hours and then at 130° C. overnight and the reaction was concentrated. The residue was purified by column to obtain 44 g (77% y) of (S)-4-bromo-2-(4-(1,1,1-trifluoropropan-2-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)thiazole.
