Tert-butyl (2S,4S)-4-(methoxymethyl)-2-[9-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)-1,11-dihydroisochromeno[4′,3′:6,7]naphtho[1,2-d]imidazol-2-yl]pyrrolidine-1-carboxylate (310 mg, 0.507 mmol) was treated with 2 mL 1.25N HCl in ethanol and stirred at room temperature for 2 h then at 50° C. for 2 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure to give a dark yellow solid that was directly in the next step.
