6-[1-Hydroxy-2-(piperazin-1-yl)ethyl]-3,4-dihydro-1-H-isochromen-1-one hydrochloride was prepared in an analogous fashion to that described for the synthesis of 1-[2-hydroxy-2-(4-methyl-1-oxo-1,3-dihydro-2-benzofuran-5-yl)ethyl]piperazin-1-ium chloride starting from 6-(oxiran-2-yl)-3,4-dihydro-1H-isochromen-1-one and tert-butyl piperazine-1-carboxylate. LC-MS (IE, m/z): 277 [M+1]+.
