Reaction Steps
Dry toluene (40 mL) was added to 1-phenyl-4-(2-phenylbutyryloxy)-1,8-naphthyridin-2(1H)-one (1.54 g, 4.0 mmol), triethylamine (407 mg, 4.0 mmol, 1 eq.), potassium cyanide (528 mg, 8.1 mmol, 2 eq.), and 18-crown-6 (211 mg), and the mixture was stirred at a room temperature overnight. Chloroform was added thereto. The insoluble residue was removed by using Celite, and the solvent of the resulting filtrate was distilled off. The resulting residue was purified by a flash column chromatography to give 4-hydroxy-1-phenyl-3-(2-phenylbutyryl)-1,8-naphthyridin-2(1H)-one as a form of crystal (123 mg, yield 8%).
