To a solution of (R)-3-[3-(1,4-dimethyl-1H-indol-3-ylmethyl)-6-methyl-2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-imidazo[4,5-c]pyridin-1-yl]-3-phenyl-propionic acid ethyl ester (80 mg, 0.17 mmol) in MeOH (5 mL) was added 2N NaOH (2 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. The reaction was then treated with 0.5N citric acid solution. The reaction mixture was extracted with CH2Cl2 twice. The organic phase was dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated. The resulting residue was purified by silica gel preparative TLC using 10:5 CH2Cl2:MeOH as an eluent to afford 67 mg (89%) of the title compound as a white floppy solid. LCMS, M++1, m/z: 456.15.
