Reaction Steps

The previous aminobenzonitrile (40.0 mg; 0.15 mmol) and chloroformamidine hydrochloride (18.0 mg; 0.16 mmol) were heated at 140° C. in diglyme for 3 hours. The reaction mixture was diluted with water, stirred for 2 hours, filtered, washed with water and dried. Purification by silica gel chromatography (5-10% methanol in dichloromethane) to yield 14 milligrams of 5-(4-chlorophenoxymethyl)quinazoline-2,4-diamine.
