To a solution of 445 mg (0.767 mmol) rac-3-(2-methoxy-4,6-bis-trifluoromethyl-benzoylamino)-3-phenyl-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid benzyl ester in methanol (4.5 ml) were added 44 mg Pd/C 10%. The mixture was stirred under a hydrogen atmosphere at room temperature for 1.5 hour. The apparatus was purged with argon. The catalyst was filtered and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to provide 330 mg (96%) of the title compound as a white foam. MS (m/e): 447.3 (M+H).
