To a solution of 17 mg (0.0341 mmol) rac-2-methoxy-N-(5-methoxymethoxy-1-methyl-3-phenyl-piperidin-3-yl)-6-methylsulfanyl-4-trifluoromethyl-benzamide in 0.5 ml methanol were added 102 ul (0.102 mmol) of an aqueous 1N HCl solution. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes and then in a 65° C. oil bath for 24 hours. The solvent was removed in vacuo. The residue was taken in water. The aqueous layer was basified with a 2M Na2CO3 solution and extracted 3 times with dichloromethane. The combined extracts were dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The crude product was purified on silica gel (Eluent: Heptane/ethyl acetate 0 to 100%) to provide 8 mg (52%) of the title compound as a white solid. MS (m/e): 455.2 (MH+).
