Reaction Steps

To a solution of 23 mg (0.0508 mmol) rac-2-methoxy-N-(1-methyl-5-oxo-3-phenyl-piperidin-3-yl)-6-methylsulfanyl-4-trifluoromethyl-benzamide in 0.46 ml methanol was added 3.9 mg (0.102 mmol) sodium borohydride. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes, quenched with 1.0 ml HCl 1N and stirred for 15 minutes. Water was added and the mixture was basified with a 2M sodium carbonate solution. The mixture was extracted 3 times with dichloromethane. The combined extracts were dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The crude product was purified on silica gel (Eluent: heptane/ethyl acetate 0 to 100%) to provide 4.5 mg (20%) of the title compound as a white solid. MS (m/e): 455.2 (MH+).
