2-Bromoethylphthalimide (508 mg; 2.0 mmoles) and morpholine (0.35 ml; 4.0 mmoles) were dissolved in anhydrous ethyl ether (5 ml). The mixture was allowed to stir at room temperature for 30 hours approx. The reaction was discontinued by solvent evaporation under reduced pressure. The obtained residue was purified by chromatography on silica gel (CH2Cl2 /MeOH 95:5) yielding 271 mg of pure product.
