Reaction Steps
To a solution of 4-methoxy-2-nitrobenzenamine (16.8 g, 0.1 mol) and 1-bromo-2-(bromomethyl)benzene (30 g, 0.12 mol) in CH3CN (700 mL) was added K2CO3 (27.6 g, 0.2 mol). The mixture was heated to reflux for 60 h then cooled to RT filtered and concentrated to dryness. The resulting residue was purified by FCC to provide the title compound.
