To a solution of tert-butyl [(3S,5S)-5-(2,3-difluorophenyl)-2-thioxopiperidin-3-yl]carbamate (400 mg, 1.17 mmol) in ethanol (11.7 mL) was added 1-amino-3-methoxy-3-methylbutan-2-ol (389 mg, 2.92 mmol) and mercury (II) chloride (412 mg, 1.52 mmol). The mixture was stirred 20 min, filtered, and concentrated giving the crude title compound. MS 442.2 (M+1).
