Reaction Steps
Tert-butyl 4-(2-propyl-1H-imidazo[4,5-c]quinolin-1-yl)butylcarbamate (5.00 g, 13.1 mmol) was combined with hydrochloric acid (50 mL of 4.0 M in dioxane) and stirred for 1.5 hours. The reaction mixture was diluted with dichloromethane (˜200 mL). Saturated sodium bicarbonate solution was added until a pH of 8 was obtained. A precipitate formed in the aqueous phase. The layers were separated. The precipitate in the aqueous layer was isolated by filtration, slurried with water and then isolated by filtration to provide 3.6 g of 4-(2-propyl-1H-imidazo[4,5-c]quinolin-1-yl)butan-1-amine.
