Toluene → Ethylene styrene
Reaction equation
[C:1]1([CH3:7])[CH:6]=[CH:5][CH:4]=[CH:3][CH:2]=1.Cl(O)(=O)=O.[CH2:12](O)[CH3:13]>>[CH2:12]=[CH:7][C:1]1[CH:6]=[CH:5][CH:4]=[CH:3][CH:2]=1.[CH2:12]=[CH2:13]Participants

Procedure
5 ml (50 μmol of Ti) of toluene solution in which the metallocene was dissolved were added thereto while vigorously agitating. After agitating for 2 hours, 10 wt % of chloric acid-ethanol solution was added to terminate a reaction and the reactant was filtered, washed with ethanol and dried in a vacuum oven of 50° C. to obtain a final styrene/ethylene copolymer.
