Procedure
To a solution of 4-ethoxy-3-ethyl-phenylamine [0.6 g, Reference Example 30(t)] in pyridine (5 mL) was added acetic anhydride (1 mL) and the mixture was stirred 18 hours at ambient temperature. The reaction mixture was diluted with water (100 mL) and the aqueous mixture was extracted twice with ethyl acetate (100 mL). The combined extracts were evaporated to give N-(4-ethoxy-3-ethyl-phenyl) acetamide (0.6 g) as a pink foam. GC-MS one peak, RT=9.16 minutes, MS 207 (M)+. (f) N-(4-Methoxy-3-methyl-phenyl)-acetamide
