The title compound was prepared by hydrolyzing 1-perhydro-2H-pyran-2-yl-3-(3-pyridyl)-1H-indazole-5-carbonitrile (0.147 g, 0.48 mmol) in a mixture of 5 mL of tetrahydrofuran and 5 mL of aqueous hydrogen chloride (6.0N) at room temperature for 12 hours, and reflux temperature for 6 hours. The compound was successfully purified by column chromatography (SiO2, 50% ethyl acetate in hexanes). (0.068 g, 64.5% yield): ES-MS (m/z) 221 [M+1]+.
