(R)-tert-butyl 3-((R)-(2-azidoethoxy)(3-chlorophenyl)methyl)piperidine-1-carboxylate (13.3 g, 33.8 mmol) was dissolved in THF/H2O (20:1, 180 mL/9 mL), triphenylphosphine (36.0 g, 135 mmol) was added in portions. The reaction mixture was stirred overnight at rt. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure to the residue, which was purified on silica gel chromatography to afford (R)-tert-butyl 3-((R)-(2-aminoethoxy)(3-chlorophenyl)methyl)piperidine-1-carboxylate (10.4 g, purity: HPLC=75%).
