2-Bromo-6-nitrotoluene and 5-fluoro-2-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-[1,3,2]dioxaborolan-2-yl)benzonitrile were coupled using the procedure described in Example 1 to afford crude 4-fluoro-2′-methyl-3′-nitrobiphenyl-2-carbonitrile as a black solid: δH (360 MHz, CDCl3) 2.32 (3H, s), 7.34-7.46 (5H, m), 7.95 (1H, m).
