Prepared in the manner of Example 20 step 3 except ethyl N-methyl-N-{4-[2,2,2-trifluoro-1-hydroxy-1-(trifluoromethyl)ethyl]phenyl}-beta-alaninate was substituted for ethyl N-{2-methyl-4-[2,2,2-trifluoro-1-hydroxy-1-(trifluoromethyl)ethyl]-phenyl}alaninate. Purification by reverse phase HPLC using a gradient elution of 80:20 H2O/TFA:CH3CN to 20:80 H2O/TFA:CH3CN at 254 nm afforded the title compound as a white solid (99%). MS (ES+) m/z 346 (MH+).
