Procedure
Using an analogous procedure to that described in Example 5 except that the reaction mixture was heated to reflux for 3 hours, 6-bromo-4-(3-chloro-4-fluoroanilino)quinazoline hydrochloride salt was reacted with di-isopropyl 2-thienylboronate to give 4-(3-chloro-4-fluoroanilino)-6-(2-thienyl)quinazoline in 36% yield, m.p. 205-208° C.; NMR Spectrum: 7.2 (m, 1H), 7.4 (t, 1H), 7.7 (m, 2H), 7.8 (m, 2H), 8.15 (m, 2H), 8.55 (s, 1H), 8.75 (d, 1H), 10.0 (broad s, 1H); Elemental Analysis: Found C, 58.6; H, 3.1; N, 11.3; C18H11ClFN3S 0.75H2O requires C, 53.5; H, 3.4; N, 11.4%.
