Procedure
To a solution of 9-Isopropyl-3-nitro-9H-carbazole(1.5 g, 5.89 mmol) in EtOH (100 ml) was added 10% Pd-C (150 mg) and the reaction mixture was hydrogenated with a Parr hydrogenation apparatus at 45 psi H2 pressure for 3 hours. The reaction mixture was filtered and the filtrate concentrated in vacuo to afford the desired product as a solid (1.3 g, 87%).
