0.07 g of 6-t-butyl-5-hydroxy-4-(1-methyl-2-propenyl)-2,3-dihydrobenzofuran-2-spiro-1′-cycloheptane synthesized in Example 12 was dissolved in 10 ml of ethanol and he solution was treated with 0.01 g of 10% palladium on carbon in the same manner as in Example 9 to give 0.05 g of 6-t-butyl-5-hydroxy-4-(1-methylpropyl)-2,3-dihydrobenzofuran-2-spiro-1′-cycloheptane as a pale yellow oil (yield 71%).
