Reaction Steps
A mixture of 3-[(2-methoxycarbonylphenyl)methyl]-2,4-dioxo-1-[4-(4-diphenylmethoxypiperidino)butyl]-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinazoline (0.40 g, 0.63 mmol) which is a free salt of the compound obtained in Example 62, a 2N aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide (1.0 ml), tetrahydrofuran (2.0 ml) and methanol (4.0 ml) was stirred at room temperature for 9 hours. The reaction mixture was made weakly acidic using 1N hydrochloric acid and extracted with chloroform. After the extract was washed with water and dried (MgSO4), the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure. The residue was triturated with ethyl ether and filtered to give the title compound (0.39 g, 91%) as a colorless powder.
