Reaction Steps
A solution of methyl 4-methoxy-5-(2-methoxyethoxy)-2-nitrobenzoate (3.39 g, 11.88 mmol) in methanol (40 mL) was hydrogenated at 50 psi hydrogen gas in the presence of PtO2 (0.050 g) using a Parr hydrogenator for 24 h. The reaction mixture was filtered and concentrated to give the title compound as an oil (2.51 g, 83%).
