Reaction Steps
7-Benzyloxy-2,2-dimethyl-benzo[1,3]dioxin-4-one was prepared from 7-hydroxy-2,2-dimethyl-benzo[1,3]dioxin-4-one and benzyl bromide under conditions analogous to example 47-a. 1H NMR (200 MHz, CDCl3): δ (ppm)=7.85 (d, J=8.5 Hz, 1H), 7.39 (m, 5H), 6.71 (dd, J=8.7, 2.3 Hz, 1H), 6.48 (d, J=2.3 Hz, 1H), 5.09 (s, 2H), 1.72 (s, 6H).
