3-((7-Methoxyquinolin-4-yloxy)methyl)-[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]pyridine-6-carbonitrile (0.050 g, 0.15 mmol) was dissolved in concentrated sulfuric acid (0.375 mL) and water (0.125 mL). The reaction mixture was heated at 100° C. for 3.5 hours then slowly poured in to ice. The mixture was adjusted to approx. pH 7 with saturated aqueous sodium carbonate. A precipitate formed which was collected on a glass frit, washing with water. The solid was dried under high vacuum to afford 3-((7-methoxyquinolin-4-yloxy)methyl)-[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]pyridine-6-carboxylic acid (0.047 g, 89% yield) as a tan solid. MS (ESI pos. ion) m/z: 351.1 (MH+).
