Procedure

484 mg of acetic acid (2RS,4aRS,10bRS)-6-(4-{[1-(4-acetyl-piperazin-1-yl)-1-amino-methylene]-carbamoyl}-phenyl)-8,9-dimethoxy-1,2,3,4,4a,10b-hexahydro-phenanthridin-2-yl ester (compound 10) and 137 mg of cesium carbonate are stirred in 10 ml of methanol for 16 h at room temperature. The solvent is removed and the solid residue purified by chromatography on silica gel to yield 235 mg of the title compound.
