To the product from Example 168a (2.0 g, 6.8 mmol) in ethanol (50 mL) with cooling, was bubbled HCl gas for 10 h. The excess ethanol was removed under vacuum. The solid was taken up in ethyl acetate. The organic layer washed with saturated NaHCO3, water, brine, and dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated under vacuum giving the title compound (2.0 g, 91%).
