To a solution of 2-(2-ethyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl)ethanol (233 mg, 1.59 mmol) and TEA (327 mg, 3.2 mmol) in DCM (10 mL) was added methanesulfonyl chloride (0.23 ml, 2.92 mmol) at 0° C. The resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 3 h. The mixture was diluted with DCM and water, and the phases were separated. The organic phase was washed with brine, dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated to give 2-(2-ethyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl)ethyl methanesulfonate (500 mg, 100%) as yellow oil that was used without purification.
