Reaction Steps
Trifluoromethanesulfonic anhydride (0.254 ml, 1.506 mmol) was added slowly to a solution of 1,3-dimethyl-5-phenyl-8,9-dihydropyrimido[4′,5′:3,4]pyrrolo[1,2-b]pyridazine-2,4,10(1H,3H,7H)-trione (step 4) (222 mg, 0.684 mmol) and 2,6-lutidine (commercial) (0.159 ml, 1.369 mmol) in DCM (10 ml) at 0° C. and the mixture stirred for 1.75 hours. The reaction mixture was quenched with sat. NaHCO3(aq) and extracted with DCM. The organic phase was passed through a hydrophobic frit and evaporated under reduced pressure. Purification of the residue by chromatography on silica, eluting with 20% EtOAc/hexane then 40% EtOAc/hexane afforded the title compound as a yellow solid.
