Sodium hydroxide (2M, 2.00 mL, 4.0 mmol) was added to a suspension of 5-(3-fluorophenyl)-1,3-dimethyl-6-((5-oxotetrahydrofuran-3-yl)methyl)-1H-pyrrolo[3,4-d]pyrimidine-2,4(3H,6H)-dione (1.35 g, 3.6 mmol) in ethanol (27 mL). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. The solvents were evaporated under vacuum to afford the title compound.
