A solution of 2-amino-5,5,6,6,6-pentafluorohexanenitrile (0.5722 g, 2.83 mmol) and 2-ethoxy-1-(methylsulfanyl)-2-oxoethaniminium tetrafluoroborate (0.808 g, 3.45 mmol) in dry 1,4-dioxane (5.2 mL) was stirred at 25° C. under N2 for 6 days. The solution was concentrated in vacuo. The resulting residue was purified by silica gel chromatography using DCM/MeOH gradient to afford the desired product, as an orange oil. 1H NMR (500 MHz, CHCl3-d): δ 4.36 (q, J=7.1 Hz, 2H); 2.85 (br s, 2H); 2.41-2.16 (m, 3H); 2.11-1.94 (m, 1H); 1.35 (t, J=7.1 Hz, 3H). m/z 302.2 (M+H).
