Reaction Steps

To a solution of compound from Step D (0.93 g, 1.59 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (25 ml) was added Dess-Martin periodinane (0.68 g, 1.59 mmol). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour and then a second portion of Dess-Martin periodinane (1 eqiv.) was added. Stirring was continued for another hour and then the reaction was quenched with 1NNaOH (˜4 ml). H2O was added and the organic layer separated. The aqueous layer was back extracted with CH2Cl2, dried and concentrated to give a yellow waxy solid. Purification by silica gel chromatography (15%-20% EtOAc/hexanes) afforded (2R,3R,4S)-2,3,4,6-tetrakis-allyloxy-1-[4-chloro-3-(4-ethoxy-benzyl)-phenyl]-hexane-1,5-dione (0.60 g, 1.03 mmol, 65%) as a white solid. MS (ES+) [M+NH4]+=600.
