Reaction Steps

To a solution of compound from Step E (0.60 g, 1.03 mmol) in MeOH (12 ml) was added 4 Å MS followed by ammonium formate (0.13 g, 2.06 mmol). NaBH3CN (0.14 g, 2.3 mmol) was then added in one portion and the mixture stirred at room temperature for 1 hour 30 minutes. The reaction mixture was then filtered and concentrated. Purification by silica gel chromatography (10%-20% EtOAc/hexanes) afforded (2R,3R,4R,5S,6S)-3,4,5-tris-allyloxy-2-allyloxymethyl-6-[4-chloro-3-(4-ethoxy-benzyl)-phenyl]-piperidine (155 mg, 0.27 mmol, 27%). MS (ES+) [M+H]+=568.
