Compound from Step B (54 mg, 0.093 mmol) was dissolved in a solution of THF/AcOH/1NHCl (0.5 ml:0.6 ml:0.30 ml) and heated to 70° C. for 30 minutes. The mixture was concentrated to give a pale yellow oil. Purification by preparative HPLC (sunfire C18, 30×100 mm, 5 μm, 10%-100% B over 15 minutes) afforded (2S,3S,4R,5R,6R)-2-[4-chloro-3-(4-ethoxy-benzyl)-phenyl]-6-hydroxymethyl-1-methyl-piperidine-3,4,5-triol (22 mg, 0.052 mmol, 56%) as a white solid. MS (ES+) [M+H]+=422.
