(2Z)-2-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-3-{4-[(6-hydroxyhexyl)oxy]-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl}prop-2-enenitrile is prepared starting from 4-[(6-hydroxyhexyl)oxy]-3,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde and (3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)acetonitrile according the same procedure following for example 10 in 97% yield. This material proves chromatographically homogenous and displays spectral characteristics consistent with its assigned structure.
