Reaction Steps

To a solution of crude alcohol 14 (2.03 g) in anhydrous THF (11.9 mL) were added CH3SO3H (0.6 N in MeOH, 7.0 mL, 4.18 mmol) at −78° C. under nitrogen atmosphere. The mixture was slowly warmed up to −40° C. for 2 h. The reaction mixture was quenched with saturated NaHCO3 solution (15 mL) and extracted with EtOAc (50 mL). The organic layer was washed with brine, dried over anhydrous MgSO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo to provide the crude intermediate 15, which was used without further purification (0.94 g, 1.85 mmol, 80%). [M-OMe]+ 477.
