To a suspension of compound 87 (2.1 g, 7.71 mmol) in EtOH (40 mL) and H2O (20 mL) was added NaOH (11 g, 270 mmoL). The mixture was stirred at 100° C. for 15 hours. The mixture was cooled to r.t. and evaporated in vacuo to remove EtOH. The mixture was diluted with H2O (100 mL) and cooled to 0° C. To the mixture was added conc. HCl to acidify the reaction mixture with stirring. The product was precipitated, filtered and washed with H2O (150 mL). The desired product was dried under high vacuum at 45° C. for 12 hours (2.4 g, 100%).
