To a solution of (R)-4-((R)-1-(6-bromopyrazolo[1,5-a]pyridin-4-yloxy)ethyl)-1-((R)-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)ethyl)pyrrolidin-2-one 6.01 (111 mg, 0.242 mmol) in acetonitrile (2.4 mL) was added N-chlorosuccinimide (38.8 mg, 0.290 mmol). The solution was stirred at room temperature for 3 h. The reaction was poured into 1N NaOH and extracted with dichloromethane. The combined organic layers were washed with brine, dried, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford (R)-4-((R)-1-(6-bromo-3-chloropyrazolo[1,5-a]pyridin-4-yloxy)ethyl)-1-((R)-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)ethyl)pyrrolidin-2-one 6.36, which was used without further purification.
