Procedure

Preparation of n-C10 (N-CH2CH2OCH2CH2OH)--In a similar preparation, n-decenyl succinic anhydride (10.5 g; 0.1 mole) is reacted with 2-(2-aminoethoxy) ethanol (23.8 g; 0.1 mole) to provide the title compound. GC analysis indicates the reaction to be about 85% complete after 120 minutes in a 150° C. heating bath.
