Reaction Steps

1-(2,3,4,6-Tetra-O-acetyl-β-D-glucopyranosyl)-4-chloro-3-(5-(4-cyanophenyl)-2-thienylmethyl)benzene (282 mg) obtained in Example 191-(1) was suspended in ethanol (5 ml) and added thereto was a 6N aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (0.37 ml). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 10 minutes. To the mixture was added a 30% aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution (0.2 ml), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1.5 hours and at 45° C. for 3 hours. To the mixture was added water (20 ml) and the mixture was cooled. The powder was collected by filtration and washed with diethyl ether and dried to give the desired 1-(β-D-glucopyranosyl)-3-(5-(4-carbamoylphenyl)-2-thienylmethyl)-4-chlorobenzene (176 mg) as colorless powder. APCI-Mass m/Z 507/509 (M+NH4).
