Procedure

0.675 g of 4-{2-(4-hexylphenyl)thiazole-5-yl}phenol, 0.328 g of 4-phenylbutanoic acid, 0.41 g of DCC (1,3-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide) and 40 mg of 4-(N-pyrrolidino)pyridine were dissolved in 40 ml of dichloromethane, followed by stirring overnight. After the reaction, the reaction mixture was subjected to filtration to remove an insoluble matter, followed by distilling-off of the solvent and purification by silica gel column chromatography to obtain 0.260 g of an objective product (Yield: 26.9%).
