Procedure
To a mixture of cyclohexanol (10.9 g, 10.9 mmol), pyridine (8.62 g, 10.9 mmol) in dichloromethane was added 1-chloroethyl chloroformate (15.59, 10.9 mmol) at ° C. The resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 60 min. The mixture was partitioned between hexane and 10% citric acid. The organic phase was separated and dried over MgSO4. Removal of the solvent gave the title compound, which was used in the next reaction without further purification.
