N-(3,4-Dichlorobenzyl)-2-(2,2-dimethyl-5-oxo-[1,3]-dioxolan-4-ylidene)-N-methoxy-acetamide was treated with methanol as described in the preparation of Compound 44-D and gave the title ester as white crystals (95% yield); mp 111° C. 1HNMR 400 MHz (CDCl3) δ (ppm): 3.72 (3H, s, OCH3), 3.90 (3H, s, OCH3), 4.77 (2H, s, NCH2), 6.46 (1H, s, CH), 7.17 (1H, dd, J=2.0 Hz, J=8.0 Hz, aromatic), 7.42 (1H, d, J=8.0 Hz, aromatic), 7.43 (1H, d, J=2.0 Hz, aromatic). Anal. calcd for C13H13Cl2NO5: C, 46.73; H, 3.92; N, 4.19. Found: C, 46.95; H, 3.82; N, 3.97.
