N-(4-Chlorobenzyl)-2-(2,2-dimethyl-5-oxo-[1,3]-dioxolan-4-ylidene)-N-methoxy-acetamide was treated with methanol as described in the preparation of Compound 44-D and gave the title ester as a white syrup (52% yield). 1HNMR 400 MHz (CDCl3) δ (ppm): 3.70 (3H, s, OCH3), 3.90 (3H, s, OCH3), 4.80 (2H, s, NCH2), 6.45 (1H, s, CH), 7.25–7.33 (4H, m, aromatics). Anal. calcd for C13H14ClNO5: C, 52.10; H, 4.71; N, 4.67. Found: C, 51.86; H, 4.68; N, 4.45.
