A mixture of N-(3,4-dichloro-benzyl)-2-(2,2-dimethyl-5-oxo-[1,3]dioxolan-4-ylidene)-acetamide (66 mg, 0.2 mmol) and a 0.2 mmol solution of methylene-(2-morpholin-4-yl-ethyl)-amine in methanol (1.5 mL, 0.3 mmol) was heated at 70° C. for 1.5 h. The reaction mixture was then cooled to room temperature and purified by preparative HPLC using methanol/water (0.1% TFA) as eluent. The fractions containing the product were combined and concentrated to give a white powder (23.3 mg, 22% yield). 1H NMR (500 MHz, DMSO) δ: 9.50 (1H, br s), 8.08 (1H, t, J=6.2 Hz), 7.59 (1H, d, J=8.2 Hz), 7.53 (1H, d, J=1.8 Hz), 7.28 (1H, dd, J=8.2, 1.8 Hz), 4.42 (2H, d, J=6.1 Hz), 4.04 (2H, s), 4.02–3.95 (2H, m), 3.81–3.77 (2H, m), 3.73–3.37 (6H, m), 3.15–3.06 (2H, m). HRMS calcd for C18H22Cl2N3O4 (M+H): 414.09875. found: 414.0987.
